Because we are committed to quality, your well-being, and the environment, we only use organic, all-natural and wild-crafted ingredients. All of our products are cruelty free and formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, petrochemicals, mineral oil, silicone, talc, or gluten. Why? These pure ingredients are safe for your skin and the environment, working in harmony with the body for more deeply therapeutic results. And we never, ever test our products on animals.
You may not have heard of them, but they’re powerful, effective, and — most importantly — the foundation of every Malie product since our inception. To make sure these handcrafted aromatic floral waters embody the true essence of our native tropical flora, we use an advanced hydro-distillation process to extract the most potent and beneficial components of plants and flowers. Our soothing, rejuvenating formulations incorporate some of Hawaii’s most beloved tropical flora, including plumeria, pikake, maile/koke'e, mango nectar, hibiscus, and coconut.
Inspired by Kauai’s natural bounty, Malie was founded by myself, Dana Roberts, and my husband Shaun, out of our love for the Garden Island of Kauai. Consistent quality and integrity are crucially important to us, no matter how large our collection and community grows. Nineteen years in, I am still deeply involved in every aspect of Malie, from scientific research to customer service, ensuring every step of the Malie journey transports you to paradise. You may have noticed the golden lotus symbol on our product packaging and around our website. There's a good reason for it: Regal and stylized, the lotus is one of the most celebrated flowers in the world. As if by magic, it blossoms in muddy water, slips beneath the surface, and emerges clean and untouched at dawn. Ancient cultures revere it as a mystical symbol of long life, honor, good fortune, and purity of heart and mind. Much like the lotus flower, we believe our products have the power to transform your experience and elevate you to a place of bliss.
At Malie, we believe the essence of real beauty comes from within — and part of that beauty comes from helping others. We are all one ’ohana in our community and giving back is an important part of taking care of each other and caring for our ‘aina. This mindset is the inspiration for our #GivingBackIsBeautiful campaign, in which we donate 100% of online sales on a designated day to a charitable cause close to our hearts. This past year alone, we’ve donated more than $20,000 of campaign profits to a diverse range of organizations, including Koke’e Resource Conservation Program, Hawaii Food Bank, Women’s Fund of Hawaii, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, Hale Opio Kauai, Limahuli Garden & Preserve, Junior League of Honolulu, AIDS Walk LA, Malama Kauai and The Kauai Film Academy.
Since our launch in 2004, Malie has grown to include over 200 luxurious products for the home and body, as well as three signature boutiques. We take pride in creating jobs and opportunities for other small companies and entrepreneurs, partnering with them as suppliers throughout Hawaii. In addition to our retail line, Malie also provides organic back-bar spa and full service in-room and hospitality amenity products. We also develop custom spa programs for Hawaii’s premier 5-star spa destinations, including The Royal Hawaiian, Andaz at Wailea, and Moana Lani Spa at Moana Surf Rider.
