Hawaii’s Leading Organic Beauty Brand Celebrates 15 Years

Malie has gained global recognition with Nature’s Purest Luxury Products, inspired by the bounty of the Hawaiian Islands

Kauai: Founded in 2004, Malie began with a vision to offer natural, organic, premium beauty products that encompass Hawaii’s beautiful flora. What started as a small Kauai business is now a globally recognized brand with over 200 products for the home, body and spirit, four retail store locations, luxury spa and hotel amenity programs and distribution to seven countries around the world.

Captivated and inspired by the lush bounty of the islands, owner Dana Roberts launched the brand with beauty products that are both healthy for the body and mimic the healing properties of the natural environment.  All Malie natural skincare products are crafted from natural, organic, local ingredients that provide consumers with a beneficial skincare option and also offer a unique Hawaiian aromatherapy experience.

Malie creates unique and first-of-its-kind products by staying up to date on the latest plant-science technology and ingredient options. Malie’s products contain Hawaiian Hydrosols, floral waters created with a technologically advanced distillation process that captures every element of the plant at the cellular level. Roberts is the driving force of research and development for Malie products and has involved her Kauai staff through interactive and educational events.

Malie’s products were originally only distributed to retailers and luxury destinations throughout Hawaii. Soon thereafter, Roberts saw an opportunity to deliver her quality products to guests in the hospitality channel and launched Malie’s branded in-room amenity program in conjunction with its custom spa treatment program with Hawaii hotels and spas. The program offers hotels an opportunity to create a unique scent to the destination, creating a special and memorable experience for guests throughout the property.

Emerging as a leader in the sustainability space for the hospitality industry, Malie’s next initiative is tackling the issue of single use plastics. The new gallon refill program provides an environmentally friendly option to hotel clients in Hawaii and the U.S. Mainland.

Malie continues to grow and separate itself by embracing innovation. In 2008, Malie was honored with the US Department of Commerce Export Achievement Award and in 2009 was recognized for Small Business Exporter of the Year (Hawaii) from the US Small Business Administration.

Malie Organics has always supported the local community and inspired a generation of women entrepreneurs throughout Hawaii. Dana has paved the way for new ideas and new business practices. She is recognized as an innovator and bright example for young women throughout the islands, noted by her commitment to hiring and growing her majority young female staff in Kauai.
