Malie Kauai is a recognized leader in the movement to revive sustainable, organic agriculture in Hawaii, especially through our community efforts at Kilohana Farm here on the Garden Isle. During the old plantation era, the local fields were used to grow sugar cane, relying heavily on pesticides and methods that robbed the soil of their nutrients. Now, with our concerted dedication to sustainable, organic farming, the harmful chemicals have been removed from the fields and the soil has been revitalized with organic fertilizers.

Together, the farmers we work with are growing a variety of complimentary organic crops in a sustainable manner, including taro, pineapple, coffee, guava, other tropical fruit and flowers. For our organic ingredients, we proudly grow Pikake (Hawaiian Jasmine), Double Pikake, Amy Gardenias, Kauai Mangos, Kauai Gold Pineapples, Singapore Plumeria, Kauai Coffee, Samoan Coconuts and Heaven’s Scent Gardenia, which blooms year round.

Within the next couple of years, Malie Farms will be certified organic by the Hawaiian Organic Farms Association. In the meantime, we are working together to restore the historic plantation and create a railway so that visitors can experience our exciting agricultural revival. The rich volcanic soil and wet weather on our Garden Island allows us to grow everything we need without dependency on the outside world and contribute to a healthy, sustainable economy. With our thriving farm, we can continue to organically grow the pure, exotic ingredients that make Malie Kauai so extraordinarily aromatic, beneficial and luxurious.
