So, I realize it's a little early to start thinking of holiday shopping, but not for us! I'm so excited that I can't hold it in any longer! Malie is going to be offering mini soy candles in beautiful gold travel tins embossed with our lotus! These soy candles are perfect travel buddies so you can bring the ambiance of the islands with you where ever you go! Imagine yourself on Kalalau beach (on Kauai's famous Na Pali Coast) with a glass of wine and Malie candle! You can take them anywhere!
We've got a few other exciting ideas for 2011 - possibly a new aroma collection! This weekend is the Kauai Farm Bureau Fair and I'm going to go check out all the gorgeous flowers and plants for some inspiration! There's an orchid show featuring an amazing collection of some of Kauai's top orchid growers premier plants! These flowers are so beautiful and it is simply breathtaking to see the best of the best all together! Flowers in general are probably one of nature's best ways of showing off the complete spectrum of all the colors in the rainbow! Hawaii has such an impressive bounty of flowers - it's going to be hard to choose just one!

Refreshing Scent Tuesday, August 10, 2010 |
|||
One of my favorite tricks is an organic mist in my car. When I'm out and about running errands, shopping or what ever, I love to spray the inside when I park, that way when I come back and open the door I'm greeted with a beautiful aroma! This can be especially nice if you've just come out of a crowded supermarket and are feeling a little worn out from your trip into the store!
I also am a big fan of spraying the mist just before I pick someone up. They always comment on how wonderful my car smells and just love the aroma! It's a nice way to greet someone.
One of my friends is absolutely in love with our organic mango nectar mist and this is what she has to say about it: "This scent is perfect. Everyday when I'm closing up my work room I spray it a couple times on my curtains. And so every morning... it's fresh and inviting!"
Malie's organic mist has so many uses! Many people use it as perfume or a room freshener spray (like in the bathroom!) and of course another wonderful use (and one of the originals) is to mist your linens before you drift into dreamland. Enjoy!

| First Flower! Thursday, August 5, 2010 | |||
A few months ago Kalena, my Director of Sales, gave a pikake keiki plant (keiki is the Hawaiian word for child or offspring) to Lindsey, my Creative Director. This little plant had sprouted under Kalena's larger pikake and they dug it up and Lindsey took it home and nurtured it. It's only about 8 inches tall and now it has it's first flower! Above is a photo of the new bud, in a few days it will bloom.

Look at this beautiful flower! I wish you could smell the soft, sexy, tropical scent through the internet! This photo is of a pikake blossom in my Creative Director's garden this past weekend! And, it's organically grown! It is the season! I love summer time when all of Hawaii's bounty is in bloom! We picked this little flower and I just could not keep myself from smelling it over and over! The aroma is intoxicating! And I am so happy Malie's Pikake Collection is back! Our new Pikake products are organic and wonderful! We already sold out of our Island Ambiance Reed Diffusers! But don't fret, they'll be back in stock soon - in about a week or two! Happy Monday and have a beautiful day! ALOHA

Organic Pikake is almost here! Thursday, July 8, 2010 |
|||
To all of our faithful customers, I know you have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of our new organic pikake collection, and I am so happy to say that the wait is almost over! These beautiful pikake products will be available for purchase online, here at malie.com on July 22nd! And part of this collection introduces a brand new product - an organic pikake body polish!
Pikake is a beautiful, very small Hawaiian Jasmine flower. It was brought to Hawaii during the monarchy and loved by Hawaii's Crown Princess, Ka'iulani. The name "Pikake" is derived from "peacock" and was given by Princess Ka'iulani who loved both the bird and the flower.
Pikake is a very special flower in Hawaii. The young flower buds are delicate and prized for lei making and lei are worn for many special occasions, especially weddings. This flower also has natural aphrodisiac qualities, making it Hawaii's flower of LOVE.
Below is a photo of Princess Ka'iulani. Above shows our new pikake collection!

Ka mauiki'iki'i o ke kauwela (Summer Solstice) Monday, June 21, 2010 |
|||
Today is Summer Solstice and sunlight has stretched to gracefully lend the Earth the longest day of the year! From today on, the days get shorter and the nights get longer (in the Northern Hemisphere).
This is a time when nature is abundant and flourishing. Beautiful, brilliant flowers are in bloom, trees are thriving, luscious green with new leaves. And the delicious, sweet fruits of summer are ripening (mmmmm, mango!).
In Hawaii, we are fortunate that Winter still flourishes with life and greenery and, yes, even floral wonders. However, Summer is the time when nature is at her peak of abundance and today, the sun's power is most potent. We focus on the pleasures of the warm season, and honoring the solstice can remind us just how precious each day is, because it brings acknowledgement that from tomorrow on, each day that passes becomes shorter and shorter.
For centuries, the journey of the sun through the solar cycle has guided the planting, growing, and harvesting times - as it still does today. The sun, and the abundance it brings affects each and every one of us, and today we take some time to enjoy and appreciate it. Watch the sun set today and honor the life it brings!

May Day is Lei Day! Monday, May 3, 2010 |
|||
"May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii Garlands of flowers ev'rywhere All of the colors in the rainbow Maidens with blossoms in their hair Flowers that mean we should be happy Throwing aside a load of care Oh, May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii Lei Day is happy day out there" ~ Red Hawke, 1928, "May Day is Lei Day in Hawai'i"
It's a song, a custom and a day full of festivities! In Hawaii on the first of May, everyone wears flowers, schools stage pageants, contests are held for the most beautiful lei, a Queen is crowned, hula competitions are held and the flowers of Hawaii are honored.
This past Saturday was May Day and it reminded me of the beautiful Plumeria lei watercolor art Malie is using on the packaging for our organic Plumeria collection! The beautiful aromas and colors of all the amazing flowers used in Hawaiian leis today are a reminder to us how special all the Hawaiian ingredients we use are. The month of May is a celebration of flowers! And I think I'm going to celebrate with our jasmine rose, beautify organic spa ritual!
