On the Garden Island, everyone embraces you as o’hana or family, and shares the joys of their ancient culture. At Malie Kauai, we appreciate how being a part of this extended family and the island way has changed our own lives for the better. So, we are committed to giving back to our community through employing fellow islanders and supporting local small businesses. Malie Kauai finds the best people on the islands to create our products – Hawaiians who love what they do – from local farmers and craftspeople to the kapunas or traditional healers who bless their work. Everyone in the Malie Kauai family has a deep reverence for our ain’a (land), its rare, indigenous plants and the native island culture.
Many of the recipes for our products have been passed down from generation to generation and are still lovingly created by local families whose small businesses we’ve helped to expand. As a result, Malie Kauai was recently honored as the recipient of a RETA-H (Regional Economic Transition Assistance) grant from the Economic Development Alliance of Hawaii. This award recognizes Malie Kauai as a “coordinating entrepreneur” and key player in creating sustainable development to ensure Hawaii’s extraordinary natural resources will bless future generations.
